Regenerating landscapes using carbon-smart reforestation

Yarrowyck Environmental Projects is focused on the rehabilitation of Australian native landscapes by environmental plantings.

We develop environmental planting projects, focused on native forest revegetation and delivering high integrity carbon removals, nature repair and biodiversity enhancement.

Carbon removals

By planting a diversity of indigenous species we ensure sustainable and permanent removal of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, assisting to address the impacts of climate change.

Nature repair

We re-establish native forests on degraded lands.

Bio-diversity enhancement

We re-establish natural ecosystems to enable the return of native flora and fauna.

Yarrowyck Environmental Planting Project

Our current focus is the rehabilitation by environmental plantings of an 800 hectare former sheep station, which had carried up to 4000 sheep for over 120 years up to 2019. The project is located 40 kms to the west of Armidale in the New England Tablelands of New South Wales.

Our work builds on activities commenced by the previous owners and currently involves an extensive program of large scale planting of seedlings into rip lines and direct seeding.

The plantings will restore the area to forested cover typical of its original state and the surrounding area. To achieve this, more than 25 local native species have been planted as seedlings with a combination of canopy, midstory and understory species and direct seeding is being carried out with prepared seeds from more than 35 local native species.

The project is also intended to contribute to an important wildlife corridor between the Gwydir River and the Northern Tablelands and to support a diverse range of species such as the Greater Glider, Yellow-bellied Glider, and Barking Owl.

The project was commenced in 2022 and is registered under the Australian Emission Reductions Fund.

As of April 2026, planting has been completed for an area exceeding 500ha, with Australian Carbon Credit Unit issuance having commenced in 2026. A further 200ha of the property has been protected exclusively as a philanthropic nature repair area and without any carbon crediting.

Meryla Project

The team behind Yarrowyck Environmental Projects has also been responsible for a project in the New South Wales Southern Highlands involving the rehabilitation of 90ha of bushland surrounded on 3 sides by Flora Reserve.

The project has involved the large scale removal of rubbish, removal of invasive species such as radiata pine and privet and the carrying out of environmental plantings so as to return the site to the predominantly dry sclerophyll forest typical of the surrounding area.

New Projects

Yarrowyck Environmental Projects is actively seeking additional opportunities to expand its work in rehabilitating landscapes through environmental plantings. If you have opportunities you would like to discuss, please contact us.
